Privacy & Terms

• Your account. When you sign up, our auth provider (Clerk) stores your email and login credentials. We mirror only your user id and email so we can show your dashboard and attach your work to your account.
• What you upload. The rubric and student-work pages (images or imported Google Docs) you submit for grading.
• Your results.The grades, scores, feedback, and improvement suggestions Markmate generates, plus a count of how many evaluations you've run this month.

We use your uploads and account solely to generate and show your evaluations, let you revisit past versions, and enforce the monthly free-tier limit. We do not sell your data or use your work to train models.

• Storage. Your data is stored in Supabase (Postgres for records, private Storage for image files). Uploaded images are kept private and served only to you.
• Grading. To grade your work, the rubric and work content is sent to our model provider (OpenRouter) for that request. It is processed to produce your grade and is not used to train models.
• Authentication. Sign-in is handled by Clerk.

Your evaluations stay in your account until you delete them. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing us at the address below; we'll remove it promptly.

• Markmate is a study aid. Grades and feedback are AI-generated estimates against the rubric you provide — they are not official marks and should not replace your teacher's assessment.
• Only upload work and rubrics you have the right to use. Don't upload others' personal information without permission.
• The free tier allows a set number of evaluations per month. Don't abuse, attack, or attempt to disrupt the service.
• The service is provided “as is,” without warranty. We aren't liable for decisions made based on a Markmate grade.
